Abstract (2. Language):
This paper examines the behaviour of the Turkish manufacturing labour market using yearly data on employment, real wages, output, real capital slock, and real price of raw materials from 1960 until 2000. The existence of long-run relationship between these variables is tested, using the cointegrating framework, for a valid Error Correction Model. The results from these tests suggest that no combination of the variables is able to reject the null hypothesis of non-coinlcgralion. The evidence thus demonstrates that the neo-classical theory of labour demand and its equilibrium predictions are not relevant for the Turkish manufacturing labour market.
