Ormancılık araştırmaları, dinamik bir araştırma alanı durumundadır. Tüm dünyada artan nüfusun, değişen sosyal değerlerin ve teknolojik gelişmenin ormanlar ve bağlı ekosistemler üzerindeki baskısı arttıkça, ormancılık araştırmalarına duyulan gereksinme de hızla artmaktadır. Ormancılık araştırmalarında çalışan ve çalışacak olan teknik elemanların bu amaçla eğitilmesi ve bu eğitimin sürekli kılınması, önemle üzerinde durulması gereken bir konudur.
