There has been evaluations about ecosystem and protected area management principles at the international level. Within this context, application of these principles at the national and local levels and on the sample area, namely Ayvalık Adaları Nature Park, are presented. Areas in the protected area system (such as national parks, nature parks and scientific reserves), have different management activities according to resource qualities. Protected area systems can vary from one country to another, depending on needs and priorities, because of differences in legislative and management structure. These systems must be harmonious with international principles and criteria.Protected landscapes in this system, can be seen as areas that reflect the harmonious samples of human- nature relationships.

Bu çalışmada, uluslararası düzeyde ekosistem ve korunan alan yönetimi esasları ve bunların ulusal ve yerel düzeyde uygulanması ile ilgili değerlendirmeler yapılmakta ve bu kapsamda Ayvalık Adaları doğa parkı örnek alan olarak ele alınmaktadır. Korunan alan sistemi içinde bulunan alanlar (ulusal park, doğa parkı, bilimsel rezerv alanları v.b.). kaynak nitelikleri doğrultusunda farklı yönetim etkinliklerine konu olurlar. Korunan alân sistemleri gereksinmeler ve önceliklere bağlı olarak, yasal düzenlemeler ve yönetim yapısındaki farklılıklar nedeniyle, bir ülkeden diğerine değişiklik gösterebilir. Bunların uluslararası esaslar ve kriterlerle uyumlu olmaları gerekir. Bu sistem içinde yer alan peyzaj koruma alanları (korunan peyzaj alanları), insan- doğa ilişkilerinin uyumlu örneklerini yansıtan alanlar olarak görülebilir.
