Abstract (2. Language):
The city of Kahramanmaraş is experencing very dynamic economic activities
from new investments to social changes. Foundation of the university, starting up
new supermarket, such as YİMPAŞ and MİGROS, have induced economic activity
as well as the competition. As the demand for new services and commodities are
increasing entrepreneurs are trying their chances long with the developments. The
purpose of this study was to analyze and understand the impact of the university and
supermarket on small busines owners and their future expectation. The
implementation of new economic government programs , stagnation, high cost of
rents, the loss of business due to new supermarkets and school breaks were the
predominat problems of small business owners.

Kahramanmaraş ekonomisi son yıllarda hareketlenmeye başlamıştır. Bu
hareketlilik içinde küçük esnafın rolü büyüktür. Ancak ÜNİVERSİTE, MİGROS ve
YİMPAŞ gibi kurum ve alışveriş merkezlerinin ilde açılması küçük esnafı bir
taraftan sevindirirken, diğer taraftan bazı sorunlarla karşı karşıya bırakmıştır. Bu
çalışmada; il merkezinde faaliyet gösteren küçük esnafın sorunları incelenmeye
çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; piyasanın durgunluğu, kiraların yüksekliği,
büyük alışveriş merkezlerinin olumsuz etkisi, tatil dönemlerinde üniversitenin
öğrenci sayısının azlığı gibi konular küçük esnafın en önemli sorunları olduğu
belirlenmiştir.
