Abstract (2. Language):
Aim: To present a case in which the umbilical cord has the abnormality of including a single umbilical artery. Case report: The patient was 30 years old, has passed 6 pregnancy, 1 parturition, 4 aboriions and has none alive children. At the 36 gestational week she was admitted to the clinic of obstetrics and gynecology and the patient was diagnosed as in utero ex fetus. After parturition of the dead fetus, placenta and the İnfant's umblical cord was sent to the the clinic of pathology for examination. During the examinations, the absence of the right umbilical artery was determined. İn histopathologic investigation brain tissue congestion and vascular dilatation in places, necrosis areas, intestinal mucosa and liver necrosis and ali organs congestion have seen. Pathologic findings İnclude lesions because of ischemic tissue perfusion insufficiency. Results: The abnormality of a single umbili¬cal artery especially the absence of right umbilical artery is rare. The abnormalities of umbilical cord are diag¬nosed easily during prenatal period by using doppler uitrasonography. The cases in vvhich are diagnosed umbili¬cal cord abnormalities must be examined for chromosome abnormalities and congenital malformations
