Sport leagues have to involve a significant competition balance in order to continue their existence. Especially through the high-competitive leagues where the match results are uncertain, incomes taken from the supporters can be put on a higher position. In this study by using along term competitive balance analysis, some facing problems and precautions were discussed through the seasons (1987-2010) in Turkish Spor Toto Super League. Within the practice of this study, the way that competitive balance level followed was determined in the history of super league (23 years). Through this purpose C5 Competitive Balance Index and a Herfindahl-Hirschman Index were used. Finally, it is seen that in Super League, competitive balance factor took place time to time but in total, a view apart from competitive balance obviously seen.

Spor ligleri, varlıklarının devam edebilmesi için belirli bir rekabet dengesini içlerinde barındırmak durumundadırlar. Çünkü diğer şartların eşit olması halinde, maç sonucunun önceden kestirilememesi taraftarlar üzerinde büyük bir ilgi yaratacak ve seyircilerin ligdeki müsabakaları izleme isteğini tetikleyecektir. Rekabet dengesinin üst düzeyde seyir ettiği liglerde, seyircilerden elde edilen gelirler de en üst düzeye çıkarılabilir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye Spor Toto Süper Ligi’nin 1987–1988 sezonundan itibaren 23 yıllık uzun süreli C5 Rekabetçi Denge indeksi ve Herfindahl- Hirschman indeksi kullanılarak rekabetçi denge düzeyinin izlediği yol tespit edilmiş, karşılaşılan problemler ve alınması gereken önlemler tartışılmıştır.
