It ts necessary to be obtained all possible clinical parameters to diagnose truely, to emerge a detailed plan and to evaulate the results of treatment objectively in penodontology. Tooth Mobility is a physical parameter used in evaulation of existing situation of periodontium. Tooth Mobility can be determined statically or dynamically. In static diagnosis, it is essential to be recorded of tooth mobility by enforcing a certain force from one point to the tooth. And in dynamic diagnosis, it is essential to be recorded of biophysical bahavior occuring in alveolus of tooth under the influence of changing forces. Up to days, although various methods in static measurement of tooth mobility have been developed with many mechanic or electronic apparatus the determination of methods which will be used in dynamic measurement requires long studies and finally as a result of associate studies of many science branches periotest method has been developed.

Peîİodoniolojide, doğru teşhis koymak, detayh bir tedavi planı oluşturmak vc tedavi sonuçlarını objektif olarak değerlendirebilmek için mümkün olan tüm klinik parametrelerin elde edilmesi gereklidir. Diş mobiiitesi de periûdonsiyumun mevcut durumunu değerlendirmede kullanılan fiziksel bir parametredir. Diş mobiiitesi statik ve dinamik olarak saptanabilir. Statik teşhisde dişe belirli bir noktadan, belirli bir kuvvet uygulayarak dişin hareketinin kaydedilmesi^ dinamik teşhi&de tse değişen güçlerin etkisi altında, dişin alveoluswnda meydana gelen biyofıziksel davranışların kaydedilmesi esastır. Günümüze kadar birçok araştırıcı mekanik ve elektronik apereylerle diş mobilitesinm statik ölçülmesinde çeşitli yöntemler geliştirmiş olmaİ&nna rağmen, dinamik ölçümde kullanılacak yöntemlerin belirlenmesi uzun çalışmalar gerektirmiş, nihayet birçok bilim dalının ortak araştırmaları sonucu periotest yöntemi gelıştirile bilmiştir.
