Abstract (2. Language):
In this study 2 different hypersensitivity dentifrices and another toothpaste which is used in daily mechanical cleaning and also brushing without dentifrices were evaluated in order to compare their plaque removing effects. Plaque and gingival index scores were recorded from 6 different surfaces of all the teeth of 48 volunteered patients. Following scaling and polishing the subjects were randomly allocated to 4 groups. Commercially available dentifrices were used during the study. A dentifrice with the active ingredient of 10 % strontium chloride hexahydrale was used in the first group and another one which contained 3.75 % potassium chloride was given to the second group, while the third group brushed with a toothpaste containing 0.33 % sodium floride and the last group brushed without dentifrice during the one month study period. Initial measurements were repeated at the 15th and 30th days. In conclusion no statistically significant differences were found between the groups according to the plaque and gingival index scores which were evaluated at the 0.15th and 30th days.
