Abstract (2. Language):
French Revolution and French occupation of Egypt has lead the new seeds to be planted in the region. Radical changes of mind arised in Egyptian philosophers when they are acquainted of Western concepts, which caused many of them to think over the liberation of Eastern countries against the ever increasing power and pressure of Western. They even proposed ways of solution for the issues. Starting from this point of view, we aimed to analyse the conflicts of caliphate in ‘Modern Egypt’ period when many of the concepts were questioned because of the modernisation efforts by different points of view of the philosophers and intellectuals who are Ali Abdel Raziq, Ahmed Lutfi Seyyid, Taha Hussein, Resid Rida, Abdurrahman El-Kevakibi and Muhammed Bahid.

Fransız ihtilali ve ardından Fransa’nın Mısır’ı işgal etmesi ise bölgede yeni tohumların ekilmesine yol açmıştır. Batılı kavramlar ile tanışan Mısırlı düşünürlerin fikir dünyalarında şiddetli değişimler meydana gelmiş ve birçoğu batının giderek artan gücü ve baskısı karşısında Doğu’nun kurtuluşuna kafa yormuş ve bazı çözüm önerileri ortaya koymuşlardır. Buradan hareketle bu makalede, modernleşme çabaları sebebiyle birçok kavramın yeniden sorgulanmaya başlandığı ‘’Modern Mısır’’ döneminde yaşanan hilafet tartışmalarını analiz etmek ve konuyu farklı bakış açılarından ele alan Ali Abdürrazık, Ahmet Lütfi Seyid, Taha Hüseyin, Reşid Rıza, Abdurrahman Kevakibi ve Muhammet Bahit gibi isimlerin gözünden incelemeye çalışmak esas gayeyi oluşturmaktadır.
