LIPOPHILIC CONSTITUENTS OF SOME CONIFEROUS CONES

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The lipophilic constituents of cones, a renewable natural resource, from Picea orientalis, Cedrus libani L. and four different Abies species namely A.equi-trojani, A.cilicica, A.nordmanniana and A.bornmülleriana, were determined after n-hexane extraction. The amount of lipophilics, identified by GC and GC-MS from the cones of A. cilicica (154.6 mg g-1 g-1) and A. bornmülleriana (131.8 mg g-1) was significantly different from others. The lowest value was obtained from the cones of P.orientalis (25.14 mg g-1). Abietic, neoabietic, sandaracopimaric and hydroxylated resin acids constituted the major compounds in the cones. Free fatty acids, resin aldehydes, resin hydrocarbons and sterols were the other chemical groups found in the composition.
