Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study was to assess preschool teacher candidates’ view on the forming and use living being models through origami for teaching the subject of living beings in preschool. The study was conducted with 30 volunteering teacher candidates in the third year of their education at Faculty of Education, Department of Preschool Teaching at Ondokuz Mayıs University. The preschool teacher candidates taking part in the study were first informed on how they could fold paper to create various animal and flower models through origami, and then requested to form the models themselves. The study results indicated that most of the teacher candidates considered origami activities as beneficial, entertaining, and interesting, and thought that these activities help develop manual skills and increase creativity. They also described that origami is likely to help facilitate teaching activities. Furthermore, many of the preschool teacher candidates described that origami models can be used in the teaching of many other subjects, and that they constitute useful and suitable tools for every level of education.
