Abstract (2. Language):
Design is a complex expression due to the multiple meanings that have is demonstrated dramatically by John
Heskett's "design is to design a designer to produce a design" statement. The usage which is grammatically
correct, includes four distinct sense of the word design. This ambiguity of the word due to the interaction of
the terminology spread over a large area as architecture, industrial products, fashion, graphics. Design is not
only a discipline is also one of the essential qualifications in every aspect of human life.
When the development of design in history examined, we observed not that the new replaces the old, on
which it is attached in the form of a process of stratification. So it has a great importance of learning and
understanding the design process in past, owing to shape the present and future design trends. In the mean of
transferring all these knowledge, using advanced technologies, multimedia and interactive products, the
contribution of the new methods is the basic premise of accurate and effective design education.

Tasarımın kendi içinde sahip olduğu birden fazla anlam basamağı sebebiyle karmaşık olan ifade durumu John
Heskett’in “design is to design a design to produce a design / tasarım, bir tasarım üretmek için bir tasarım
tasarlamaktır” sözü ile çarpıcı biçimde ortaya konmaktadır. Dilbilgisel olarak doğru olan bu kullanım birbirinden
farklı tasarımın dört anlamını içermektedir. Bu anlam karmaşası temel olarak tasarım terminolojisinin; mimarlık,
endüstriyel ürün, moda, grafik, etkileşim gibi geniş bir alana yayılmasından kaynaklanır. Tasarım yalnız bir
disiplin değil gün boyunca insan hayatının her noktasında etkisini gösteren ayırt edici yaşamsal temel
niteliklerdendir.
Tasarım tarihinin gelişimi incelendiğinde yeni olanın eskinin yerini aldığı değil, üzerine eklendiği katmanlaşma
biçimindeki bir süreç olduğunu gözlemleriz. Geçmişteki tasarım süreçlerinin nasıl ve neden var olduğunu
anlamak, bugün ve geleceğin tasarım eğilimlerinin şekillenmesinde büyük önem taşır. Bu bilgilerin aktarımında
ise gelişmiş teknolojiler, çoklu ortam ve etkileşimli ürünlerin kullanımı, yeni yöntemlerin katkısı, doğru ve etkili
bir tasarım eğitiminde temel gerekliliktir.
