Abstract (2. Language):
Internal migration movements in Turkey, which started in the 1950s, have had profound and diverse effects both on the migrants and on the places to which and from which migrations took place. The fact of internal migration, which has not run parallel to industrialization, took place due to the push-factors of rural regions, which were combined with the pull-factors of urban regions. Moreover, the developments in mass communication technologies and transportation have accelerated internal migration. Although the intensity of internal migration displays different patterns, the only thing that has remained constant is the effects of this process. Internal migrations have deeply affected the socio-economic and also the urban structures of both the migratory origins and the destination locations. This article aims to analyze the ways and the extent to which internal migration have affected both urban life and urban labour market.
