Oral delivery is currently the gold standard in the pharmaceutical industry where it is regarded as the safest, most convenient & most economical method of drug delivery having the highest patient compliance. Oral drug delivery acquired an important position in the market & contributing a big role in patient life which includes dysphasic, bed ridden, psychic, geriatric and pediatric patients. Mouth dissolving tablets constitute an innovative dosage form that overcomes the problems of swallowing For pediatric, geriatric, and bedridden patients and for active patients who are busy & traveling may not have access to water. The present review describes the various formulation aspects, super disintegrates employed & technologies developed for MDTs along with various excipients, evaluation tests, marketed formulation & drugs used in this research area.
