PRECISION ATTACHMENTS

Abstract (2. Language):
Precision attachment-retained removable partial dentures are alternative to the clasp retained removable partial dentures especially in the anterior regions where the esthetics is a primary concern. To choose a proper attachment for any case is a confusing and challenging process for the clinician. Anatomical structures, oral hygiene, biomechanical factors, psychological conditions and economic factors of the patient closely effect the selection. Although there is not empirical evidence that one attachment system is better, there are lots of disadvantages and advantages to each other. Nevertheless, attachments can provide an effective response to prosthesis stability and retention in a way that is cosmetically pleasing. This review study is intended to guide the clinicians by classifying the precision attachments and defining clinical situations of precision attachments.
