Abstract (2. Language):
Some statesmen’s trying to spread the Western science among Ottomans in
the 19th century helped some intellectuals to concern the Western’s works. These
intellectuals began to translate the works of the Western writers into Turkish after the
second half of the 19th century. Many of the translation works held in that period were
of the works of the enlightenment period and almost all of them were French origin
works. When the philosophical translations began in the West, the same things
happened in the Eastern World, too. bn Sina, Gazali and other Islamic writers’ works
were translated from Arabic into Turkish. The translations that were realised in the
19th century both from the Western and Eastern works weren’t held in a systematic
way and every translater translated the work in which she or he was interested in.

19. yüzyılda Osmanlı devlet adamlarının Batı’nın ilim ve fennini memlekette
yayma çabası bir kısım aydınların Batı’nın fikrî eserlerine de ilgi duymasına yol
açmıstır. Bu aydınlar, 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısının hemen basından itibaren Batılı
filozofların eserlerini Türkçe’ye tercüme etmeye baslamıslardır. Bu dönemde tercüme
edilen eserlerin büyük kısmı Aydınlanma Devri filozoflarına ait eserlerden olusurken,
tercümelerin tamamına yakını Fransızca’dan yapılmıstır. Batı’dan felsefî tercümelerin
basladıgı dönemde Dogu’dan tercümelerde de önemli bir artıs meydana gelmistir. bn
Sina ve Gazali basta olmak üzere slam filozoflarının eserleri Arapça’dan Türkçe’ye
tercüme edilmistir. 19. yüzyılda gerek Batı’dan, gerekse Dogu’dan yapılan tercümeler
bir sistem dahilinde yapılmamıs, her mütercim ilgi duydugu eseri tercüme etmeye
çalısmıstır.
