This study includes the investigation of astronomy knowledge of undergraduate students enrolled pedagogical formation course opened in the school year of 1999-2000 at Gazi University, Gazi Education Faculty. The sample group of this study contains 170 undergraduate students who have 34 different undergraduate branches. All students of the sample group are not at Gazi University. In this study, the astronomy knowledge levels, not requiring expert knowledge, of the mostly science and social science students have been investigated.

Bu araştırma, 1999-2000 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında G.Ü. Gazi Eğitim Fakültesi bünyesinde açılan pedagojik formasyon programına dahil olup, otuz dört farklılisans programının son sınıfında bulunan ya da mezun olan 170 adet öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Örneklem grubuna dahil olan bireylerde Gazi Üniversitesi öğrencisi olma şartıaranmamıştır. Araştırmada sosyal ve fen ağırlıklılisans programlarında bulunan öğrencilerin, özel ihtisas gerektirmeyen temel astronomi konularındaki bilgi düzeylerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır
