Abstract (2. Language):
Although it has been written by the same writer, there can be two different texts in almost every play today: "didascalie" and "repliques" the roots of which are originally French and can also be used in Turkish, in other words stage directions (staging) and lines (text). In this study, stage techniques have been examined, and Eugene Inonesco's Exit the King has been chosen as an example. In this play, the functions stage directions and lines have and how they serve these functions have been searched for. Finally, it has been found that the stage techniques in this play, in which visual, audial and especially mental elements can be mostly seen, accomplish common functions found in any traditional play, and by giving additional information about invisible ob¬jects they also gain important roles.

Günümüzde örnekleri bulunan hemen tüm oyunlarda, aynı yazarın kaleminden çıkmasına karşın birbirinden farlı iki metin bulunmaktadır. Bunlar, kökenleri Fransızca olup Türkçe'de de kullanılan "didascalie" ve "repliques", başka deyişle "sahne bilgileri" (yanmetin) ve "söyle-şim"dir (anametin). Bu çalışmada sahne bilgileri incelenerek, örnek olarak seçilen Eugene Ionesco'nun Kral Ölüyor adlı oyununda hangi işlevler üstlendiği ve bu işlevleri nasıl yerine getirdiği araştırılmaktadır. Sonuçta, görsel, işitsel, özellikle de düşünsel öğelerin çoklukla bulunduğu bu oyunda sahne bilgilerinin herhangi bir geleneksel oyunda bulunabilecek olağan işlevleri yerine getirmesi yanında sahnede görünmez nesnelerin bulunması nedeniyle ek bilgiler de vererek, yö¬netmen ve oyunculara yardımcı olduğu ortaya konulmaktadır.
