DÎABETES MELLİTUS'A BAĞLI OLARAK GÖRÜLEN İLTİHABI PERİODONTAL HASTALIKLAR

INFLAMMATORY PERIODONTAL DISEASE DUE TO DIABETES MELLITUS

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The periodontal health status of 71 adult diabetics and 60 non-diabetic controls were investigated. Although the comparison between the whole diabetic group and control group did not reveal any difference in the amount of aetilogic factors, the degree of gingival inflammation and clinical attachment loss was significantly higher in the diabetics. There was a positive correlation between the controlles diabetics status and gingival inflammation. The reason for increased gingival bleeding in poorly controlled diabetics could be either due to inflammation or vascular changes (microangiopathy) in the gingival tissues
