Two different repair techniques were suggested to bond artificial teeth to the metal base without brazing a retention to the cast framework of partial dentures. First repair technique was implemented on six partial dentures by conventional self-cure acrylic resin applied to electro-etched metal base. The second repair technique was implemented on two dentures by 4-META self-cure acrylic resin applied to sandblasted metal base. Two out of six dentures repaired by using electro-etched technique were in service after a follow up period of 15 months. Acrylic resin thickness on the metal base and the amount of overbite should be considered when using these repair techniques. 4-META acrylic resin that bonded to sandblasted metal base would be more practical procedure than the conventional acrylic resin bonded to electro-etched metal base. Both techniques can be alternative procedures for brazing retentive elements to the partial dentures.

Bu çalışmada, tek parça döküm (İskelet) protezlerin tamirinde tutucu elemanların lehimlenmeleri yerine, metal kaide ile tutuculuk sağlayan iki ayrı yöntem uygulanmıştır. Birinci yöntemde, tamiri gereken altı iskelet protezde kaide metali elektro 'etching' tekniği ile pürüzlendirilmiş ve kon-vansiyonel soğuk akrilik reçine uygulanmıştır. İkinci yöntemde ise kumlanmış protez kaide metali üzerine 4-META soğuk akrilik reçine uygulanarak iki protezde tamir yapılmıştır. Elektro 'etching' yöntemi İle tamir edilen iki protezin 15 ay sonra yapılan kontrollerde fonksiyonel olarak kullanıldıkları saptanmıştır. Önerilen yöntemlerle tamir yaparken yapay dişi metal kaideye bağlayan akrilik reçinenin kalınlığının ve örtülü kapanış miktarının göz önünde bulundurulması yararlı olacaktır. 4-META akrilik reçine, kumlanmış metal kaideye bağlanabildiğinden bu yöntemin elektro 'etching' ile yapılan tamir yöntemine göre uygulanması daha kolaydır. Gözlemlerimize göre her iki yöntemin de iskelet protezlerin tamirinde lehimleme yerine kullanılması uygundur.
