HOCAMIZ PROF. DR. TAHSİN TOKMANOĞLU'NUN ÖZGEÇMİŞİ VE BİLİMSEL YAYINLARI

Tahsin TOKMANOĞLU wa s born in 1922 as a son of an army officer. Consequently, he traveled widely in Anatolia and spent his childhood in Çanakkale, Gümüşhane, Erzurum and Van provinces. He received his B.Sc.degree in forest engineering in 1947. He started his carrier in the Turkish Forest Service by first serving at various field branches. From 1950 on he was involved in the collaborative effort of the Forest Service with the Mapping General Command aimed at producing 1:25000 scale maps of forested areas. This project relied heavily on photogrammetric techniques. In 1954 he was awarded a U.S. scholarship and studied photogrammetry at Syracuse University from where he received a certificate. He joined the Forestry School of the İstanbul University in 1955 as a research assistant. He received his doctorate degree in 1961. He was appointed associate professor and full professor respectively in 1967 and 1974. He retired in 1989 due to age limit. Professor Tokmanoğlu taught, in addition to the Forestry School, in civil engineering and architecture departments. He puplished 13 books and 268 articles.
