Competitive intelligence gathering inc ludes the aggregation of competitive information to facilitate strategic development and to gain a competitive advantage. In order to enhance competitiveness and survivability, companies must effectively gather and use strategic information about their competitors. However, companies are sometimes willing to carry out unethical intelligence gathering practices to collect such information in today’s global competitive environment. This study presents the results of the field research of top managers’ evaluations of unethical practices in competitive intelligence gathering, their reasons, and their potential effects. In this study, the challenges associated with unethical practices in competitive intelligence gathering are also discussed, and some possible solutions and suggestions for future researches are presented.

Rekabet istihbarati toplama, rekabetç i bir avantaj kazanmak ve stratejik gelismeyi kolaylastirmak iç in rekabet bilgisinin toplanmasini kapsamaktadir. Rekabetçi olmak ve is letmenin yasamini sürdürmek iç in, is letmeler rakipler hakkinda stratejik bilgileri etkin bir sekilde toplamak ve kullanmak zorundadirlar. Bununla birlikte, isletmeler günümüzün küresel rekabet ortaminda bu tür bilgileri toplamak iç in bazen etik olmayan istihbarat toplama uygulamalarini gerçeklestirebilmektedirler. Bu çalisma, tepe yöneticilerin rekabet istihbarati toplamadaki etik olmayan uygulamalari, bunlarin sonuçlarini ve olasi etkilerini degerlendirdikleri bir alan arastirmasinin sonuçlarini sunmaktadir. Çalismada ayrica rekabet istihbarati toplamada etik olmayan uygulamalarla birlikte ortaya çikan sorunlar tartisilmakta ve bazi olasi çözümler ve gelecekteki arastirmalar için öneriler sunulmaktadir
