With the elections of 14 May 1950 a transformation, which was not fully understood by most of the RPP members, was realized and as a result the twenty-seven year-old RPP power was replaced with the DP, which was actually born in the RPP but according to their claim they had a different kind of base. Mainly in this article, by focusing on the reactions and propaganda techniques of both sides during the elections of 1950, the change of power by the elections for the first time in Turkey is tried to be understood.

14 Mayıs 1950 seçimleri ile dönemin birçok CHP yöneticisi tarafından tam olarak anlaşılamayan bir dönüşüm yaşanmış ve yirmi yedi senelik CHP iktidarı yerine CHP içerisinden çıkmasına rağmen farklı bir kaynaktan beslendiğini iddia eden DP geçmiştir. Bu çalışmada temel olarak 1950 seçimlerinde karşılıklı tarafların bu süreçte gösterdiği tepkiler ve propaganda yöntemleri incelenerek Türkiye'de ilk defa yaşanan seçimle iktidarın değişmesi olgusunun nasıl gerçekleştiği anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.
