Abstract (2. Language):
Metacognitive skills consist of the students’ thinking, thinking about thinking, learning how to learn, being
aware of their cognitive processes and guidance. The information about the conscious requires thinking and
the assessment of variables that affect the behaving sensitivity in terms of this. The research was carried out on
the tenth-grade students chosen randomly from high schools. There are 194 students who are girls and 150
students who are boys in the research. In parallel to the research aims, the relation between the metacognitive
skills and gender was observed and the result was significantly in favor of the girls. In terms of school types,
although there were a variety of differences between the averages, it was found that there was no big
difference from the view of statistics. When it comes to the relation between the students’ success in math and
their cognitive skills, the more successful the students become in math, the more increased the metacognitive
skills become or the more their success in math decreases, the more their metacognitive skills diminish. So,
there is a linear relation between metacognitive skills and the success in math in this context.
