Abstract (2. Language): 
The radical changes that occurred in the work life, especially since the 1980's, have resulted some important effects on the whole classes of the social structure and started the processing from industry society into information society. That process has being restructured all the micro/macro areas of the socio-economic life from individuals to firms and from sectors to whole economies. The firms have started to devolve traditional concepts for according to information society and gravitated to information and technology based strategies. The great development processes in the information technologies have created some direct and indirect effects to strategies and costs of firms. In this context, the firms have being restructured their strategies and get the opportunity of decreasing costs in the whole stages of production. In this study, firstly, the process of transition to information society will be discussed and given information about the information technology concept and its development. Afterwards, in light of the foregoing, the effects of the developments in the information technologies to the strategies and costs of firms will be analyzed in different categorizations.

Özellikle 1980'li yıllardan itibaren çalışma hayatında meydana gelen köklü değişiklikler, toplumsal yapının tüm katmanları üzerinde önemli etkiler meydana getirmiş ve sanayi toplumundan bilgi toplumuna geçiş süreci yaşanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu süreç; bireylerden firmalara, sektörlerden ekonomilere, sosyo-ekonomik hayatın mikro/makro bazda her alanını önemli ölçüde tekrardan yapılandırmaktadır. İşletmeler, bilgi toplumuna uyum sağlamada geleneksel anlayışları terk etmeye başlamış; bilgi ve teknoloji temelli stratejilere doğru yönelmişlerdir. Bilişim teknolojilerindeki akıl almaz ilerleme süreci ise, işletmelerin stratejilerine ve maliyetlerine doğrudan ve dolaylı etkiler yaratmıştır. Bu bağlamda, işletmeler stratejilerini yeniden yapılandırmakta ve üretim süreci ile ilgili her aşamada maliyetleri azaltabilme imkanına sahip olabilmektedirler. Bu çalışmada öncelikle, bilgi toplumuna geçiş süreci genel bir değerlendirmeye alınacak ve bu kapsamda bilişim teknolojileri kavramı ve gelişimi hakkında detaylı bilgi verilecektir. Daha sonra; tüm bu anlatımlar ışığında, bilişim teknolojilerindeki gelişmelerin işletmelerin strateji ve maliyetlerine olan etkileri farklı sınıflandırmalar dahilinde incelenecektir.
