FIELDEXPERIENCE IN SPORTMANAGEMENT: EXPECTATIONS, PERCIEVE DOUT COME SAND PERCIEVED PROBLEMS

The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and the expectations of AİBÜ sport management department students through field experience before starting the application. A qualitative research method was used in this study. Semi-structured interview technique was chosen in order to obtain data and 15 students were interviewed face to face. The subjects were selected among 60 students who will take the field experience course in 2011-2012 academic year. Seven of the students chose their field experience in sport clubs, two in private sport organizations, two in sport federations and another four in Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports. The data were analyzed with content analysis method. All four phases of the content analysis were undertaken: data was coded, the themes were found and the themes and the codes were organized among themselves prior to the interpretation of the data. In order to provide reliability and validity two researchers worked independently from each other and their findings were compared and confirmed. Students who provided data were described without disclosing their names or departments. Findings were gathered under four main themes: a selection criteria, perceived outcomes, perceived problems and expectations from the institution. Generally the conclusion of the research has shown that the expectations and perceived outcomes and perceived problems in field experience of sport management department students of the AIBU have similarities with their peers around the world.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi (AİBÜ) spor yöneticiliği bölümü öğrencilerinin alan uygulamasına başlamadan önce, uygulamaya yönelik algı ve beklentilerinin tespit edilmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi ve verilerin toplanmasında da yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2011-2012 öğretim yılında alan uygulaması dersini alan 60 öğrenci arasından 15 gönüllü öğrenci ile yüz yüze görüşülerek yapılmıştır. Öğrencilerin 7’si uygulama yeri olarak farklı spor kulüplerini, 2’si özel sektörü, 2’si federasyonları ve 4’ü de Gençlik Hizmetleri ve Spor İl Müdürlüğü’nü belirlemiştir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. İçerik analizinin dört aşaması gerçekleştirilerek veriler kodlanmış, temalar bulunmuş, bulunan tema ve kodların kendi aralarında düzenlenmesinin ardından bulgular yorumlanarak analiz tamamlanmıştır. Araştırmanın geçerliği ve güvenirliği için birbirinden bağımsız iki araştırmacının bulguları karşılaştırılmış ve teyit edilmiştir. Araştırmada yer alan katılımcıların isim ve birimleri tanımlanmamıştır. Bulgular, seçim kriterleri, algılanan kazanımlar, algılanan sorunlar ve kurumdan beklentiler olmak üzere dört başlık altında ifade edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları genel olarak AİBÜ spor yönetimi bölümü öğrencilerinin alan uygulamasına yönelik beklentilerinin ve algıladıkları sorunların dünyadaki akranlarıyla benzer olduğunu göstermektedir.
