Abstract (2. Language):
Problem based learning method is one of the active and student-centered learning methods that can be used in science and technology teaching based on constructivist approach. In problem based learning environments, students define the problems in scenario presented them, and then solve the problems. Problem based learning method can be more effective for primary and secondary students when teaching techniques such as concept cartoons helping students in solving problems are used in this process. So, in the study it is aimed at determining the effect of concept cartoons assisted problem based learning method on motivation about science learning of secondary students. In the study, two classes have been taken as experiment (n=29) and control (n=31) group and have been used pre test-post test quasiexperimental design. Lessons in experiment group have been carried out by using concept cartoons assisted problem based learning method. Lessons in control group have been carried out by using activities in science and technology curriculum. Questionnaire for motivation toward science learning has been used as data collecting tools in the study. In the result of analysis obtained data, it has been determined that there is a meaningful difference in favor of the experiment group with respect to students’ motivation about science learning.
