The The purpose of this paper is to reveal the effect of work-family conflicts on life satisfaction. In addition, differences and similarities of this effect are aimed to reveal. In this regard, survey has been conducted within academics who work in business schools in the British and Turkish universities and these findings were discussed in terms of their theoretical and practical implications. Study results, first of all, show that the level of work-family and family-work conflicts for Turkish academics is higher than the UK academics; however, the level of life satisfaction is lower than the UK academics. Another result for the UK academics demonstrates that although the level of work-family conflicts has negative effects on the level of life satisfaction, the level of family-work conflicts has no meaningful effect on the level of life satisfaction. In addition, for Turkish academics, a meaningful effect of the level of work-family conflicts and family-work conflicts on the level of life satisfaction was not found.

Bu çalışmanın amacı iş-aile çatışmaları ile yaşam tatmini arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymak, öte yandan söz konusu ilişkinin İngiltere ve Türkiye için ne kadar değiştiğini, genellikle kapitalist değerlerin ihraç edilmesi sonucunda bireyselleşen dünyada bu tabloların ne kadar benzediğini belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda İngiltere ve Türkiye’deki üniversitelerin İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültelerinin kadrosunda yer alan akademisyenlerle yapılan anket çalışması yoluyla elde edilen bulgular değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları, ilk olarak, Türkiye’deki katılımcı akademisyenlerin iş-aile ve aile-iş çatışması düzeylerinin İngiltere’deki katılımcı akademisyenlerinkine göre daha yüksek, yaşam tatmini düzeylerinin ise İngiltere’deki katılımcılarınkine göre daha düşük olduğunu göstermektedir. Bir diğer sonuca göre, İngiltere’deki katılımcıların iş-aile çatışması düzeylerinin yaşam tatmini düzeyleri üzerinde negatif yönde etkisi olduğu halde, aile-iş çatışması düzeylerinin yaşam tatmini düzeyleri üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmamaktadır. Türkiye’deki katılımcıların iş-aile çatışması ve aile-iş çatışması düzeylerinin yaşam tatmini düzeyleri üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisine rastlanmamıştır.
