Al-Suyuti,

e most leading faces of those who constructed the Islamic cultural heritage, drew attention for his studies spreading to many fields as well as the large number of his works. One of his side which drew attention is his argues and discussions with many scholars of his time and many accusations directed to him. His being accused of arrogation (literary theft) is the most striking accusation. It is required to answer those questions about the causes of all these argues, the true rate of these accusations and to what extent al-Suyuti's personality had effects on these situations. When these questions can be answered, the scientific life of al-Suyuti's period will be written more truly.

İslam kültür mirasını inşa edenlerin en renkli simalarından olan Suyûtî, eser sayısının çokluğu yanında çalışmalarının pek çok alana yayılmasıyla da dikkatleri çekmiştir. Onun ilgi çeken bir yönü de, zamanındaki bilginlerle olan tartışmaları ve pek çok suçlamayla karşı karşıya kalmasıdır. Bilim hırsızlığıyla suçlanması ise, en dikkat çekici suçlamadır. Bütün bu tartışmaların nedenleri, ithamların gerçeklik payı yanında Suyûtî'nin kişiliğinin bunların yaşanmasında ne derece etkili olduğu hususu cevaplanması gereken sorulardır. Bu sorulara yanıt verilebildiğinde Suyûtî dönemi bilimsel hayat daha sağlıklı yazılabilecektir.
