Abstract (2. Language):
Sonic an d ultrasonic systems are being used in medical .science for diagnosis and treatment. These systems were used firstly in 1957 in dentistry with root canal treatment. Then, both in root canal treatment (root canal preparation, filling the roots, removing the silver cones, posts and broken instruments, retro cavity preparations) and in periodontal treatment (detertraj, curettage, removing the stains) sonic and ultrasonic systems were used lor different purposes. Recently a new instrument which works with sonic^, mechanism was developed for usage in cavity preparation. There isn't enough information about the effectiveness of this instrument. The aim of lliis review is to give information about the sonic systems and their usage in dentistry.
