Abstract (2. Language):
Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflamatory disorder that primarily affects skin and oral cavtty. Although the cause of this condition remains unknown the underlying immunopathologic mechanisms that result in the migration of chronic inflamatory cells to the involved dermal and mucosal sites have been well described. Recent data suggest that auto-reactive cyto-toxic T-cells trigger keratinocyte apoptosis in Oral iichen planus. Although Oral iichen planus develops most commonly in the fifth to sixth decades of the iffe, patients of all ages may develop the disorder . This disease affects 0.5-2 %% of the population and is one of the more common oral mucosa/ diseases. Especially, the atrophic and erosive forms of Oral iichen planus may be painful
