Abstract (2. Language):
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of four different staining solutions on the color stability of Molloplast B and UfiGel SC; silicon-based permanent soft denture liners. Material and Methods: 40 disc-shaped specimens (12 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness) were fabricated for each material. Each group was divided into 4, 2 of the specimens from each group were stored in distiled water as control group and the remaining eight specimens were dipped into the staining solutions; tea, coffee, orange juice and red wine. Color measurements of the specimens were made before and after 1 month of dipping sessions. To evaluate color differences, the CIELAB colorimetric system was used. Data were statistically analyzed using One way ANOVA, Tukey HDS tests and nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results: In both of the materials significant differences among the tea, coffee, orange juice, red wine and distiiled water solutions were determined (p<0.05). In Ufi Gel SC; red wine AE value is significantly higher than orange juice (p:0.016; p<0.05) and distiiled water (p:0.027; p<0.05) AE values. In Molloplast B; tea, coffee and red wine AE values were significantly higher than the distiiled water AE value. In tea, coffee and orange juice solutions; no significant differences among Ufi Gel SC and Molloplast B were determined (p<0.05). On the other hand, red wine; AE value of Ufi Gel SC was significantly higher than AE value of Molloplast B (p<0.05). Conclusion: Although the effect of tea, coffee and orange juice were similar for both Ufigel SC and Molloplast B silicon-based permanent soft denture liners, the discoloration of the red wine of Ufigel SC was significantly higher then the Mollopolast B. The patients which were applied the tested materials must be advised about this discoloration.
