Abstract (2. Language):
Actinobacıllus actinomycetemcomitans is a gram negative, facultative anaerob coccobacillus that plays an important role in the etiology of especially localized juvenile periodontitis- The aim of this study was to evaluate this microorganism's susceptibility to different antibiotics, 10 localized juvenile periodontitis patients were included in the study- Subgingival microbiologic samples were taken from the deepest pocket of first molars İn each quadrant with paper points. Samples were than immediately cultured on Tryplic Soy-Scrum-Bacitracin-Vancomycin agar plates. They were incubated at 37°C for 3 days. At the end of this incubation period microorganisms were evaluated according to their colony morphologies and then, they were gram stained and tested for oxidase and catalase activity. All localized juvenile periodontitis patients were culture positive for subgingival Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans- Antibioti c susceptibility tests of 10 Actmobacillus actinomycetemcomitans isolates were performed by using standard antibiotic discs on Columbia agar. Among the six antibiotics, all of the Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans isolates were susceptible to tetracycline, ofloxacme and azithromycin.
