The aim of this research is to develop the Academic Locus of Control Scale and to examine its validity and reliability analyses. The sample of study consists of 647 university students from Sakarya University. In this study construct and concurrent validities, internal consistency, test-retest reliabilities and item analysis of the scale were examined. As a result of factor analysis for construct validity two factors have emerged which named academic external locus of control and academic internal locus of control, consist of 17 items and account for the 71.7 % of the total variance. In the concurrent validity significant relationships were found between The Academic Locus of Control Scale which was developed in this study and Locus of Control Scale (Dağ, 2002). The internal consistency reliability coefficients were .94 for internal academic locus of control and .95 for external academic locus of control. Findings also demonstrated that item-total correlations ranged from .57 to .92. Test-retest reliability coefficients were .97 and .93 for two subscales, respectively. The item-total correlations ranged from .57 to .92. According to these findings the Academic Locus of Control Scale can be named as a valid and reliable instrument that could be used in the field of education and psychology.

Bu araştırmanın amacı Akademik Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği'ni geliştirmek ve geçerlik ve güvenirlik analizlerini yapmaktır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Sakarya Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi'nde öğrenim gören 647 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Yapılan faktör analizi sonucunda toplam varyansın % 71.7'sini açıklayan, 17 madde ve 2 alt boyuttan oluşan bir ölçme aracı elde edilmiştir. Bu alt boyutlar akademik dışsal kontrol odağı ile akademik içsel kontrol odağıdır. Ölçeğin faktör yükleri .61 ile .95 arasında değişmektedir. Uyum geçerliği çalışmasında bu araştırmada geliştirilen ölçek ile Kontrol Odağı Ölçeği (Dağ, 2002) arasında anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu görülmüştür. İç tutarlılık güvenirlik katsayıları akademik içsel kontrol odağı için .94 ve akademik dışsal kontrol odağı için .95 olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin test-tekrar test güvenirlik katsayıları ise akademik içsel kontrol odağı için .97 ve akademik dışsal kontrol odağı için .93 olarak bulunmuştur. Madde analizi sonucunda alt ölçeklerin madde-toplam puan korelasyonlarının .57 ile .92 arasında değiştiği ve %27'lik alt-üst grupların ortalamaları arasındaki tüm farkların anlamlı olduğu görülmüştür. Bu bulgulara dayanarak AKOÖ 'nün eğitim ve psikoloji alanında kullanılabilecek, geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu söylenebilir.
