Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of the present paper is to provide readers with a concise discussion about the influence of conservative and religious ideologies over scientific issues and science education in general, and evolutionary research program and evolution education in particular. In order to achieve this goal, first, it was attempted to delineate the present situation. The picture obtained reflected a marked decrease in public acceptance of evolution by natural selection, and depreciation of scientific efforts. Then, the underlying factors of the present picture were elaborated by its historical, philosophical, logical, and scientific dimensions. Finally, the issues involved in science education and teaching evolution in schools were discussed, and possible solutions and alternative models were proposed.
