Abstract (2. Language):
A financial centre is a city in which demand and supply of funds meets. An international financial centre is a city in which international demand and international supply of funds meets. To take advantage of the improvement of international financial services depends on being a competitive financial centre. A research by the City of London shows that the most 10 international financial centres respectively are London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Zürich, Geneva, Tokyo, Chicago, Frankfurt, and Sidney. Another research by MasterCard shows that the most 10 commercial centres respectively are London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore Chicago, Hong Kong, Paris, Frankfurt, Seul and Amsterdam. Seven cities are placed in both two lists. Istanbul is included the second research and is sixty fourth of seventy five cities searched. Three indexes prepared by Wojcik to fix the improvement levels of international financial services in the countries included Turkey shows that Turkey has small scores in the index values. So much effort should be fulfilled to do Istanbul an international financial centre.
