Abstract (2. Language):
This is a study carried out with reference to the widest definition of translation by Jakobson who makes a tripartite categorization of translation. The contribution of the translator’s self description to the comprehension of the process of translation is observed on the corpus of the translated poetry of Mario Benedetti, the Uruguayan poet who lost his life in 2009. The interlingual translations into Turkish were read by photographers who later transferred the words into images, namely, made the intersemiotic translations of the poetry. The interaction between the interlingual and intersemiotic translators is described and observed to reveal a totally new dimension in the process of translation in shedding light on the black box of the translator in taking her/his decisions.
