Though leaders are needed through our whole lives, leadership has a special place within business world. This study is shortly handling just some of the many leadership types. By giving summarized information to the researchers in this topic, the study aims enlightening their studies at the preliminary level. Following literature search, the study gives definitions of some of the prominent leadership behavior styles seen at contemporary businesses, and shortly mentions some leadership behavior models developed by academics. The study handling a limited number of leadership behaviors, shows that there would be several leadership behaviors in different businesses, and in different cultural contexts depending on the characteristics of the leader and followers. It is explicitly understood that there is no single true path. A combination of differentiated behaviors would be fitting, depending on the situation, conjuncture, and contemporary conditions. This combination may bring sustainable performance to businesses.

Yaşamın birçok kesitinde liderlere ihtiyaç duyulmakla beraber, işletme dünyasında liderlik özel bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışma; literatürde çok sayıda bulunan liderlik davranışlarından bazı liderlik davranış türlerini kısaca ele almaktadır. Bu alanda çalışmak isteyen araştırmacılara özet bilgi vererek, çalışmalarına başlangıç aşamasında ışık tutmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada; literatür taraması sonucunda çağdaş işletmelerde öne çıkan liderlik davranış tiplerinin bazılarının tanımları verilmiş ve bunlara ilişkin akademisyenlerce geliştirilen modellere kısaca yer verilmiştir. Sınırlı sayıda liderlik davranışına yer verilmiş olan çalışma, değişik kurumlarda, farklı kurum kültürlerinde, çeşitli örgüt iklimlerinde, hem izleyenlere hem de liderin özelliklerine bağlı olarak çeşitli liderlik davranışları olabileceğini göstermektedir. İzlenebilecek tek doğru bir yol olmadığı açıktır. Duruma, konjonktüre ve güncel koşullara bağlı olarak çeşitli davranışlarının bileşimi uygun görülebilir, bu bileşim işletmeye sürdürülebilir performans sağlayabilir.
