INVESTIGATION OF TRANSMUTATION OF SOME LONG LIVED NUCLEAR WASTES IN ACCELERATOR DRIVEN SYSTEMS

In this study, Accelerator Driven System (ADS) is used to investigate the 99 129 237 238 239 transmutation of five long-lived nuclear wastes like 99Tc, 129I, 237Np, 238U, 239Pu into stable or short-lived isotopes. The acceleration driven system is composed of a natural lead target, subcritical core, liquid sodium coolant and structural material. The transmutation rate of long-lived nuclear waste, the neutron production number per beam proton, neutron and power distribution in the cylinder vessel are analyzed by 1, 2 and 3 GeV (10mA) proton beam energies. Three dimensional nucleonic calculations is carried out using Monte Carlo code MCNPX and ENDF/B-VI nuclear data.

Bu çalışmada Hızlandırıcı Güdümlü Sistem (ADS) kullanılarak uzun yarı ömürlü 99Tc, 129 237 238 239 129I, 237Np, 238U ve 239Pu nükleer atıkların kararlı veya kısa yarı ömürlü izotoplara dönüşümleri incelenmiştir. Bunun için sırasıyla 1, 2 ve 3 GeV enerjili ve 10 mA akım şiddetine sahip proton demeti, doğal kurşun hedefe gönderilmiştir. Bu enerjiler için proton başına üretilen nötron sayısı (çoğaltma faktörü), uzun ömürlü atıkların dönüşüm oranları, nötron akı dağılımları ve güç yoğunluğu incelenmiştir.
