Abstract (2. Language):
Our goal was to assess the effectiveness of vaginal clindamycin cream in reducing febrile morbidity after abdominal hysterectomy. Vaginal clindamycin cream was administered to 64 patients prior to hysterectomy for whom abdominal hysterectomy was planned between Jan 1999 and Jan 2000. Normal preoperative preparation were used for the 78 patients making up the control group. Febril morbidity degree records evaluated by curve. Febril morbidity was 9.3% for study group and 14.1 % for the control group. Incission site infection and cuff cellulitis were 4.6%, 4.6% for the stuidy group and 8.9% , 5.1 % for the control group in the same order. The findings were not statistically meaningful I. In conclusion , The use of preoperative vaginal clindamycine cream was not superior to normal preoperative procedure for lowering febril morbidity and postoperative infection.
