Abstract (2. Language): 
This article is taken from the book “Yalım Kaya Bitigi Osman Fikri Sertkaya Armağanı”. In this article to be discussed the etymology of the word “Ürümçi”. According to the author, the origin of the word “Ürümçi” is based on the word “Yürüngçin”. The origin of this word is “Bai-shui-zhen” in Chinese Language.

Bu makale “Yalım Kaya Bitigi Osman Fikri Sertkaya Armağanı” adlı kitaptan alınmıştır. Makalede “Ürümçi” sözcüğünün etimolojisi tartışılmıştır. Yazara göre, “Ürümçi” sözcüğünün kökeni eski Uygur metinlerinde geçen “Yürüñçin” sözcüğüne dayanmaktadır. “Yürüñçin” sözcüğü ise “beyaz” anlamındaki “(y)ürüñ” ile Çince “zhen” sözcüğünden oluşmuştur. Bu sözcüğün esli Çince “ Bai-shui-zhen “Aq-su (bai-shui) gazarmisi”dir.
