Abstract (2. Language):
This section is a translation of the last part (pp.145-154) of the book called Interpreting
the Qur’ân: Towards a Contemporary Approach. Although this section does not have it, we
considered to give this title to the translation, taking into account both the general theme
of the book and its last part. We have translated this section of the book as the model of
interpretation mentioned was presented in it. Actually it will be seen that the method offered
by the author who considers himself being among contextualists, is inspired from the”
Double Movement” of Fazlur Rahman. It can be said that this method explained in detail
in this section, keeping the basic approach in the ” Double Movement”. However criticisms
on the main elements of the ” Double Movement” in the various studies will also be held
for the suggestions in the same section. Certainly, the paper which translated doesn’t contain
completely Saeed’s views on the subject; nevetheless it gives an idea about the issues
that he mentioned throughout the book and briefly offers the model of interpretation that
he views important.

Bu bölüm, “Abdullah Saeed, Interpreting the Qur’ân: Towards a Contemporary Approach,
London: Routledge, 2006”, künyeli kitabın 145-154. sayfaları arasında yer alan “Epilogue”
(Hâtime) başlıklı son bölümünün çevirisidir. Bu bölümün başlığı olmamasına rağmen genelde
kitabın, özelde de bu bölümün ana temasını dikkate alarak böyle bir başlık vermeyi
uygun gördük. Bu bölümü çevirme gerekçemiz söz konusu yorum modelinin özet olarak
kitabın bu bölümünde sunulmuş olmasıdır. Yazarın sunduğu yöntemin, kendisini bağlamsalcılar
dediği gruba dâhil etmesinden de anlaşılacağı üzere aslen Fazlur Rahman’ın
Kur’ân’ın anlaşılmasına yönelik teklif ettiği ‘ikili anlama’ yönteminden mülhem olduğu görülecektir.
Oradaki temel yaklaşım muhafaza edilerek bu anlama yönteminin biraz daha
açımlandığı söylenebilir. İkili anlama yöntemi bağlamında söz konusu yaklaşımın temel
unsurlarına yöneltilen eleştiriler çevirisini sunduğumuz bölümde ileri sürülenler için de
geçerli olacaktır. Elbette çevirisini yaptığımız bu metin Saeed’in konuyla ilgili görüşlerini
derli toplu bir şekilde sunmamakta, ancak kitap boyunca ne tür konuları işlediğine dair
fikir vermekte ve dikkate alınmasını düşündüğü yorum modelini özet bir şekilde bize sunmaktadır.(
