Although metal reinforced porcelain restorations have been clinically used successfully for many years, the metal substructure that has to be covered with porcelain may result in unpleasant gray appearance especially at the margins. Many full porcelain systems have been developed as an alternative to the metal reinforced porcelains to solve this problem. The success of full ceramic restorations in serving for a long time in the mouth depends on the success of bonding between the ceramic, adhesive agent and tooth structures. Cementation of zirconium restorations may be carried out using either zinc phosphate or modified glass ionomer cements, but use of resin adhesion cements is often preferred as they cover marginal gaps better, their retentive capability is stronger and they increase the resistance of restorations to fractures

Metal destekli porselen restorasyonlar klinik olarak uzun yıllardan beri başarıyla kullanılmalarına rağmen porselen ile kaplanmak zorunda olan metal alt yapı özellikle marjinlerde gri renkte hoş olmayan bir görüntüye sebep olabilmektedir. Bu problemin çözümü için çok sayıda tam porselen sistemi metal destekli porselenlere alternatif olarak geliştirilmişlerdir. Tam seramik restorasyonların uzun dönem ağız ortamında başarıyla hizmet verebilmeleri seramik, yapıştırma ajanı ve diş yapıları arasındaki bağlanmanın başarısına bağlıdır. Zirkonyum restorasyonların simantasyonu çinko fosfat yada modifiye cam iyanomer simanlarla yapılabilir. Fakat marjinal açıklıkları daha iyi kapatmaları, tutuculuklarının daha fazla olması ve restorasyonun kırılma direncini arttırmaları gibi avantajlarından dolayı rezin yapıştırma simanlarının kullanımı tercih edilmektedir.
