ATRAVMATIK RESTORATIF TEDAVİ IÇIN KULLANILAN CAM IYONOMER SIMANLARIN MIKROSIZINTISI

THE MICROLEAKAGE OF GLASS IONOMER CEMENTS USED FOR ATRAUMATIC RESTORATIVE TREATMENT

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
Introduction: The atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) technique is an innovative, largely painfree, minimal intervention approach for treating carious teeth. Purpose: This in-vitro study evaluated the microleakage of glass ionomer cements used for atraumatic restorative treatment. Material-Method: 48 extracted human teeth having aproximal caries were used. The carious lesions were removed by hand instruments. The teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=12) and restored with Ketac Molar Aplicap, Kavitan Pro, Fuji IX GC and Ionobond glass ionomer cements. After thermal cycling, the teeth were sectioned through the mesiodistal direction from the center of the restorations and microleakage scores were observed. The data were analyzed statistically. Results: There was no significant difference between materials used in the study (p0.05). As shown in Tables II-V, approximately twice or more microleakage was observed at gingival margins when compared with occlusal margins for all materials (p0.05). Conclusion: As shown in this study, glass ionomer cements showed more microleakage at gingival than occlusal margins of ART cavities.
