Abstract (2. Language): 
The current prevalent conception of language and meaning is that of semiotics. According to this conception, based upon Jacques Derrida's thought, language only consists of differences and a "word" (a sign, or a sentence, or a text) does not have a definite meaning, hence language is not a function of the speaker/writer. It is clear that announcing the death of the speaker/writer in verbal exchange and reducing this exchange to the hearer's/reader's understanding a word, like announcing the absence of the hearer/reader in the verbal exchange and reducing the verbal exchange to the meaning something, is a one¬sided approach: Meaning something and understanding a word, speaker/writer and hearer/reader are complementary parts of the verbal exchange. Thus, the philosophy of language needs new conceptions of meaning and language which should consider not only the speaker/writer and meaning something, but also the hearer/reader and understanding a word.

Bugün hakim olan dil ve anlam kavrayışımız, göstergebilimin dil ve anlam kavrayışı. Jacques Derrida'nın son biçimini verdiği, dili dil yapanın özdeşlikler değil, ayrımlar olduğunu kabul eden bu kavrayış, üretilmiş bir "söz"ün (göstergenin, tümcenin, metnin) mutlak, değişmez bir anlamı olamayacağını, buna dayanarak da dil kullanımının konuşanın/yazanın bir işlevi olmadığını ileri sürmektedir. "Söz" alış-verişinde konuşanı/yazanı yok sayan ve bu alış-verişi anlamaya indirgeyen bu kavrayışın, tıpkı "söz" alış-verişinde "dinle¬yeni/okuyanı" yok sayan ve onu anlatmaya indirgeyen geleneksel bakış gibi tek yanlı bir bakış olduğu açıktır: Anlama ile anlatma, konuşan/yazan kişi ile dinleyen/okuyan kişi ya da kişilerin "söz" ortamında kurdukları karşılıklı ilişki olarak tanımlayabileceğimiz bir sürecin birbirinden ayrılmaz iki parçasıdır. Dil felsefesi, içinde bulunduğumuz yüzyılda, konu¬şanı/yazanı olduğu kadar dinleyeni/okuyanı, anlatma kavramını olduğu kadar anlama kav¬ramını da hesaba katan yeni bir dil ve anlam kavrayışına gebe görünmektedir
