Colorectal carcinoma is known as an advanced age disease. In recent years, increasing incidence of colorectal carcinoma in young patients is being reported with a poor survival. Blastocystis hominis is a protozoan normally found in colonic flora but its clinical significance is still contraversial. In this report, a young patient diagnosed as signet-ring cell colorectal carcinoma accompanying with Blastocystis hominis infection was discussed

Kolorektal kanser ileri yaş hastalığı olarak bilinmektedir. Son yıllarda genç hastalarda kolorektal kanser sıklığında artış ve yaşam beklentisinin de kötü olduğu bildirilmektedir. Blastocystis hominis kolonun normal florasında varlığı saptanmış ancak klinik önemi tartışılmakta olan bir protozoondur. Burada Blastocystis hominis enfeksiyonunun eşlik ettiği kolorektal taşlı yüzük hücreli kanser tanısı alan genç bir olgu literatür eşliğinde tartışıldı.
