CYCLOSPORINE-A is a potent immunosuppresive compound that has been used in conjunction with organ transplants. Renal transplant patients are usually medicated with Üıe combination of Azathîoprine and Cortisone in addition to cyclosporin. There are numerous adverse side effects of cyclosporine. Side effects include lymphoma, nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity and gingival hyperplasia. In this investigation 69 renal transplant patients who are periodically controlled at the Ege University Medical Center have been included. Upper and lower 6 anterior teeth and both buccal and lingual gingival papillas of these teeth are used in examination. The determination included plaque scores (PII), probing deptlis, papilla bleeding index (PBI) and hyperplastic index (HI). Patients whole blood CsA concentrations are standardized as morning values oj blood tests. The mean scores of clinical parameters (mean S.E) in the patients were, probing depth= 1.73±0.72, PII« 2.94 ± 0.92, PBI= 1.19 ± 0.66. Gingival hyperplasia were determined in 71 % of the patients. Results of clinical studies and laboratory values are evaluated statistically.

Organ reddini önlemek için, organ naklinden sonraki dönemde kullanılan immunsüpresif ilaçlardan birisi de siklosporin A (CsA)'dır. Bu hasta grubunda uygulanan kombine ilaç tedavisinde yer alan Azathioprİne ve Kortizon da kullanılan diğer immunsüpresif ilaçlardır. Kullanılan CsA; nefrotoksisite, hepatotoksisite, lenfo-ma ve dişeti büyümesi gibi yan etkileri sahiptir. Araştırmamıza, böbrek nakli yapılmış ve E,Ü. Tıp Fa-kültesi'de rutin kontrolleri yapılan 69 hasta dahil edilmiştir. Hastaların, alt-üst ön bölgedeki 6 kesici dişleri ve bu dişlerin dudak ve dil tarafındaki dişeti papilaları değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirmede cep derinliği, Plak İndeks (Pil), Papila Kanama İndeks <PBI) ve Hi-peı-plazi İndeksi (HI) kullanılmıştır. Hastaların CsA serum seviyeleri, sabah alman kanda tayin edilmiştir. Çeşitli sürelerde CsA kullanan hastaların ortalama cep derinliği =1.73±0.72, ort. PII= 2.94 ± 0.92, ort. PBI= 1.19 ± 0.66 dır. değerlendirilen hastaların % 71 de çeşitli seviyelerde dişeti büyümesi saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, hastalardan elde edilen klinik ve laboratuvar parametrelerin dişeti büyümesi ile ilişkisi istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Ülkemiz insanlarının genelde iyi olduğu söylenemeye» ağız bakımlarının varlığında, adı geçen ilacın dişeü büyümesi açısından etkisini araştırmak ve bu konuda var olan sınırlı sayıdaki araştırma verilerine verilerimizi ilave etmek amacımızı oluşturmuştur.
