TETRASİKLİNLERİN ANTİENZİMATİK ÖZELLİKLERİNİN PERIODONTAL TEDAVİDEKİ YERİ

ANTIENZYMATIC PROPERTIES OF TETRACYCLINES: POTENTIAL NEW APPROACHES IN THE TREATMENT OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
Tetracyclines and its derivatives are being popular with their antienzymatic properties besides their antimicrobial effects. Chemical modifications of the tetracycline molecule enabled to develop tetracycline analogs capable of inhibiting tissue originated collagenase without exhibiting antimicrobial properties. Similar phenomena have been observed with low dose application of tetracycline. These properties would alter the biochemical tissue distinction cascade leading to more efficient response to conventional periodontal therapy.
