Abstract (2. Language):
Clindamycin resistance is reported among the bacteria which are called "Streptococcus anginosus" or "Streptococcus milleri" group recently. Clindamycin is used as a choise of antibiotic at dentistry nowadays. From thai group bacteria, Streptococcus constellaius, isolated from an odontogenic abscess is reported as it was found clindamycin resistant. The anaerobic bacteriologic investigation was performed to the pus specimen which was aspirated intraorally from the abscess cavity. The antibiotic susceptibility test was determined using agar disc diffusion technique. >105 cfu/ml alpha hemolytic streptococci were grown as pure culture. The isolate identified as Streptococcus constellatus, was resistant to clindamycin. The clindamycin resistance must be taken into consideration with the suspected alpha hemolytic streptococci cases.
