Nowadays innovation is seen as the greatest weapon to provide a competitive advantage to businesses. Innovation, however, can take place in an innovative environment. Social capital plays an important role for developing of this environment. A high level of social capital has dimensions like trust, common language and norms which forces individuals to innovative behavior. In the study, the effects of social capital and innovative climate to innovative climate in the hospitals are researched. For this purpose, the data collected with a questionnaire from 398 personnel in two public and two private hospitals in Kütahya which goes through a process of rapid change and development have been analyzed. All the variables in the research are analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling. Results showed that structural and cognitive social capital has no significant affect on innovative climate dimensions and innovative behavior. In addition the relational social capital has a significant effect on innovative climate dimensions and innovative behavior.

Günümüzde yenilik işletmelere rekabet avantajı sağlayan en büyük silah olarak görülmektedir. Yenilik, ancak yenilikçi bir ortamda gerçekleşebilir. Bu ortamın gelişmesinde sosyal sermaye önem taşır. Yüksek seviyeli bir sosyal sermaye güven, ortak dil ve normlar gibi bireyleri yenilikçi davranmaya itecek boyutlar içermektedir. Çalışmada hastanelerdeki sosyal sermaye ve yenilikçi iklimin yenilikçi davranışa etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bu maksatla hızlı bir değişim sürecinde olan Kütahya’daki iki kamu ve iki özel hastanedeki 398 çalışana uygulanan anket verileri analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan araştırmada değişkenlerin tamamı yapısal eşitlik modeli ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara yapısal sosyal sermaye ve bilişsel sosyal sermayenin yenilikçi iklim boyutları ve yenilikçi davranışa anlamlı etkisi bulunamamış bununla birlikte ilişkisel sosyal sermayenin yenilikçi iklim boyutlarını ve yenilikçi davranışı olumlu ve güçlü bir şekilde etkilediği saptanmıştır.
